About Bethesda

Bethesda Lutheran Church is a member congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).

As a faith community, we’ve been around for over one hundred years. Yet in our passion to proclaim a relevant message, we are constantly evolving and adapting our ministries in order to most effectively accomplish our mission. To that end, we believe God is calling us to become:

  • A Community of Welcome in which all people experience the holy hospitality of God’s Word and Sacraments;
  • An Incubator of Faith where people of all ages develop more fully their faith in God; and,
  • A Body in Purposeful Motion which seeks to grow the Kingdom of God through acts of witness, service and mission.

Our mission statement reflects this vision.

We are called to:

  • Gather all people into a living relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Grow as disciples through worship, prayer and study of God’s Word
  • Go into the world to share the gospel in word and deed

Our core values are those things which guide and direct us in our mission and ministry as well as inspire and motivate us to live as God calls us to live.

We value all of creation as a gift of God.

We value the transforming power of the Gospel.

We value the gift of community.

We value the call to make disciples.

Indeed, in all that we say and do, we seek to live as a community of faith united in purpose and passionate about the work God has given us to do. We enthusiastically extend to all an open invitation to join us in this wondrous journey of faith and service to the glory of God.
